It truly is all about helping our athletes, The Ripple Effect athlete shout out is here once again. This time it’s for Nick. I met Nick a few years ago when his life and schedule allowed him time to come train with me at the Ripple Effect, he is kind, sincere, quick to smile, and a talented, dedicated runner. Nick has been the Basalt High School Music teacher for years now, he is inspiring, hard working, a gift to the community, a talented teacher, musician, and was a Grammy nominee as a Music Educator in 2017, top 25 in the country. He’s an adoring husband, father to two golden retrievers AND he just competed in and successfully finished his first 100 mile trail race. Silverheels 100 in Fairplay CO.
From Nick:
Working with Carolyn over the past few years has helped me to become a much more well-rounded mountain athlete. She has helped me to realize that there are more effective ways to get better at a sport than simply ‘doing that sport more’. Carolyn helps her athletes see weaknesses or imbalances as something to work through, not just a fact of life. When I decided it was time to go all in and run my first 100 miler, my schedule wasn’t allowing me to train in the gym with her on a regular basis. Since most of the work was going to be mine to do out on the trails, Carolyn and I worked out a realistic training plan to get to my goal. She designed several strength workouts for me to do on my own to keep myself strong, balanced, and healthy as I ramped up to 70+ mile weeks. She makes her athletes feel like family and she is an absolute joy to be around. Thank you so much, Carolyn!
